Mini introduction on who you are, where you are from and what you do.

I am a Portuguese student researcher in cultural heritage conservation. I study and recreate old glass recipes from Portuguese glassmakers to recover their glassmaking knowledge.

What makes you passionate about your craft/profession?

I’m passionate about my profession not only because it allows us to understand the past, but also to preserve the future, rewriting our history and learning from it.

Why does craft matter?

The knowledge of glassmaking is strongly based on experience, memory (both mental and muscular) and transmission from one generation to the next. That’s why I think it’s essential to preserve this knowledge for the present and the future, not only of the cultural heritage but also of the art of glassmaking.
