What craft do you work with?
I am a ceramic wall artist. I create work from stained shards of porcelain clay with an emphasis on tactile edges.
What is your background?
After completing my first degree in art I qualified as an art teacher. With a passion for ceramics I embarked on a MA Ceramics at UCA Farnham, which I completed in 2016. I now live in Bournemouth and lecture in Fine Art at Bournemouth and Poole College as well as creating work in my own studio.
What are the main inspirations for your work?
The inspiration for my artwork is taken from the Jurassic coastline, which is a beautiful, interesting, and internationally important place because of its fragility. The colours and the fragility of this coast are both reflected within my final outcomes. My work also explores the senses, especially touch, sight and sound. All my work is wall based and are either created from shards of stained porcelain that are framed or small porcelain tiles that are stitched onto canvas to create wall hangings.
