Process & Production

I wanted to try a different approach to traditional Azulejo tile glazing. I used plants as resists in two different ways. This was done to create different layers of colour, texture, and glazed/non-glazed areas.

  1. I glued the leaves directly onto the unglazed tiles to acta s a resist
  2. I wanted to try a different approach to traditional Azulejo tile glazing. I used plants as resists in two different ways. This was done to create different layers of colour, texture, and glazed/non-glazed areas.I glued the leaves onto the white underglaze and then painted  the traditional design onto the tiles (anover the leaves that would burn off during the firing)
