Carved aspen wood

Experiment

Research

Traditional

I begin with one round log of locally sourced aspen wood. I take of the bark and see how the wood has grown. Then I subtract material – dig into the wood – and gradually create main shapes before i split the log through its core, let it dry, and spend hours upon hours carving smaller and smaller wood chips until the object is finished.
