Process & Production

Kiln-cast glass.

The relief detail was created by shaping refractory plaster (50:50 flint:plaster) which was placed within a refractory plaster frame. This was placed into the kiln, cold, loaded with glass cullet prior to firing. After firing, the plaster was removed, leaving a void (aka negative space) within the block of cast glass. The glass was then cleaned and polished. The images show the form prior to final finishing.
