The work that I have chosen to submit to the Craft Hub Material Library is a contemporary collection of textiles designed for tableware, inspired by the dream like landscape of the dunes on Bull Island at dusk.

The fabrics have been realised through digital print and hand weaving on Harris floor looms, using waste yarn leftover from the textiles industry. While making this collection I was thinking about the ways in which we gather around food, the importance of shared mealtimes in developing a sense of community, while exploring the role textiles has to play within this. The collection weaves together strands of traditional craft, sustainability, and creative place making, to form a narrative centred around care; care for each other as we gather, and care for the natural world through the choice of materials.
