Culture & Context

Edinburgh is almost entirely made out of sandstone. Stonemasons in the city carry out regular repair work and create waste dust from cutting the stone. I have collected this waste and developed a glaze from it.

Recipe Details

The glaze is 56% sandstone and 44% hardwood ash. Sandstone is relatively high in silica and the ash provides the necessary flux.
