Culture & Context

Seashell waste is today produced in vast quantities around the globe. Sadly this waste often end up in landfills of back in the sea, where it can cause several environmental problems.

This project explores the waste from seashells through material experimentation.

Process & Production

The seashell waste have been collected from several restaurants in Oslo. By firing the shells at 900 degrees Celcius, they have been calcinated. The burned shells has been used as a base for experimentation and has been combined with different natural aggregates.
