Recipe Details

SiO2 + CaCO3 + Na2CO3 and the different lanthanide oxides were used as starting materials. In these case it was used 2% of cerium oxide and 2% of terbium oxide, r =1. Approximately 25 g batches were mixed and melted in platinum crucibles in an electric furnace at 1500 °C for 3 h in air. The melted glasses were quenched at room temperature and further annealed at ca. 550 °C for 1 h. The glass samples were cut and carefully polished.
