Recipe Details

SiO2, CaCO3, Na2CO3 and the different lanthanide oxides (1% CeO2 + 1% Eu2O3 + 3.5 % Tb4O7) were used as starting materials. Approximately 25 g batches were mixed and melted in platinum crucibles in an electric furnace at 1500 °C for 3 h in air. The melted glasses were quenched at room temperature and further annealed at ca. 550 °C for 1 h. The glass samples were cut and carefully polished.
