Process & Production

A combination of acid liquid and ceramic colour pigments, in this case household vinegar and iron oxide, is dripped onto a surface of liquid clay slip (engobe). The chemical reaction produces spots with outwards floating/growing of “tentacle” shapes on the surface. After bisque firing of the stoneware sample, a glossy translucent ceramic glaze is added, before a second high temperature firing.
