Process & Production

The hollow shape test sample is cast with porcelain slip in a plaster mould. First a layer of white clay is cast and drained. Secondly a layer of orange coloured engobe is cast when the first layer has set for a while. Thirdly a layer of white clay. The piece is fired to sintering at 1220°C.
When fired, areas of the hard porcelain are worked with the use of a sandblaster, either partly or all the way through the surface, leaving a textured surface with soft transition between the layers of colour.
