Storytelling

Using a mix of fabrics including velour, cotton and a variety of techniques from hand sewing to printing and adhesives, this piece is both the medium and the message. Creating a sense of weight, luxury, and reverence, the velour adds both texture and connotation to themes of religiosity, stateliness, and power. The cotton provides a comfort, and a sense of the known and remembered. By mixing the two, you create a duality of the commonplace and the opulence.
