Specific Technique

Silk yarns with supplementary cord warp are interwoven into a square pattern when weaving plain weave. After weaving the cord threads are pulled tightly and tied at either end. They are then dyed with acid dyes and left to dry. Once dried, the cord threads are untied and pulled out from the existing silk ground cloth. A square pattern from the resist tied cord threads is left over and the silk warp is gathered in areas to create uneven surface texture.
