Opalescent vitreous enamels are a powdery form of glass and metaloxides which melt at lower temperatures than glass. These get combined with water and Gum arabic and form a paint that can be applied onto the glass with brushes.

Process & Production

Cutting clear glass to the desired shape.Mixing of opalescent vitreous enamels with water and gum arabic until Right Consistency is reached. Applying colours to the glass through screenprinting or handpainting. After each wash of paint a firing at about 605° C in order to melt the paintlayers to the glass. Assembling glass pieces and lead cames, ultimately soldering of connection points.
