Artist Statement
After studying Fine Art Adrian moved to Scotland in 1976 to paint. Woodwork projects became a second means of income and eventually in 1992 he turned to a career making furniture and carved panels. Early furniture commissions involved research into simple early oak furniture. The necessary skills learnt with historical oak structures and hand-tools became an influence and trademark approach.
Carving was initially added as detail to furniture mainly on chest fronts, but this developed into carved panels in shallow relief to be hung alone as artwork. Separate periods of concentration are now spent on both furniture and panels making. Both have evolved over time with much of the wood stock and tools interchangeable.
