Q&A

Artist Statement

Through simple but strong forms, the rich colours and textures of metals are drawn out and highlighted in my work. Their unique properties inform my designs, and I often join various alloys so that the contrast between them creates a relationship that amplifies each.

What craft do you work with?

Metal – primarily gold, silver, copper, and bronze

What inspires you to work with this craft?

An interest in the ancient, elemental history of metals is woven throughout my practice as a goldsmith

How do you start your creative process?

Seeing jewellery as a vessel for narrative and memory, my work echoes the cosmic origins of metals, and speaks of natural forces and forms, such as the warmth of the sun, the layers of the earth, or the movement of water.
