Craft & Design Department at City of Glasgow College
We are the Craft and Design Department at the City of Glasgow College, a Further Education College. This encompasses Applied Arts and Jewellery Programmes, ranging from vocational to non vocational classes. We work with a variety of craft and non craft materials with a strong focus on ethical making and sustainability. Among the craft materials we explore glass, ceramics, metals and textiles. With the non craft material we question what craft material could be today.

Artist Statement
The Craft and Design Department at the City of Glasgow College provides a multidisciplinary approach where the students have the opportunity to explore a variety of craft methods and approaches. We focus not only on individual materials but also dialogue between craft and function through the workshops we deliver. Through dynamic projects, often in collaboration with outside stakeholders, students can experiment with materials and explore innovative ideas through the creative process, often producing craft which pushes the boundaries of glass, textiles, jewellery and ceramics. By encouraging the use of sustainable materials and processes we create an ethos of ethical making and combine traditional techniques with new technology to achieve this, enabling students to leave equipped with skills and knowledge as responsible makers.
