Dimitra Kakoulidou

My name is Dimitra Kakoulidou. I was born and raised in Thessaloniki. My restless spirit and artistic skills led me to follow the path of art. Initially I was involved in painting and started my studies in the Maintenance of Painting s. Then I studied mosaic - stained glass at the Cultural I.E.K of Thessaloniki. I worked in maintenance laboratories of paintings in the field of aesthetic restoration of images. Along the way I attended courses in History, Archaeology, Art in the open air university and for four years I ran my own mosaic art, stained glass and jewelry workshop. In recent years I have been won over by the high art of knots or macrame. It is a form of textile, in which I do not weave with a loom, nor knit with needles or crochet, but only by making knots with my hands. It is an art through which I can express my perceptions and my anxieties about the contemporary way of life.
