Artist Statement

Though glass as material has always been very important to her, in most of the cases, her decisions regarding aesthetics are an answer to the content importance. In her work, she questions the significance of the observer’s relation to the Art piece and the moment of encounter as well as the way we are influenced by subconscious and conscious awareness.

What inspires you to work with this craft?

The chosen materials reflect the fluidity within the mind being shaped by our thoughts. Often, we are not able to decide consciously about them, but we can always try to follow them to their roots and their impact on our choices which shape our behaviour.

How do you start your creative process?

As an artist, Michaela Tkadleček would describe herself as somebody who is questioning our relation to an image. Where do we stand in this relationship, are we trying to escape our images, are we delving into them, are we losing ourselves in them or are we a part of somebody else’s imagination? Am I a part of it, or am I just an observer?
