Wearble art, experimentation and elements of nature
Q&A
Artist statement
Nature is inexhaustible for inspiration, and different individuals find new things that inspire them. This project explores different approaches to give the user of the textile associations to nature. By wearing these textiles, you are dressed in nature.
What craft do you work with?
I work with paint, drawing, embroidery, digital design and textile design
What inspires you to work with this craft?
The aim was to create new tactile surfaces and the abstract patterns only nature can create. The intendent focus was to see nature’s own aesthetic and expression.
The silk floated in the water, dancing calmly, before it`s trapped within its motion. The cold controlled ice is an interesting contrast to the light silk. When you break it, it changes to a beautiful uncontrolled pattern of geometrical shapes. The motifs and patterns bring an interesting life to the ice and textile.
How do you start your creative process?
I have a strong connection to nature and use a lot of my time to photograph. The motifs are the different atmospheres nature, temperature, season, and light can create. When I start with new projects, I often start by looking back at my photo achieve.
Your Workspace?
I switch between working at my desk, and outside. I find that spending time in the city or countryside gives me reflect and think of new opportunities. I would not be able to live without my pencil, paint and camera.
Are there new techniques you would like to try?
I would like to learn to paint with ink.
Sharing your craft and experience?
The best advice I have gotten has been to let loose and not think about the end result. When you do this its easier to let the process guide you and you will get unexpected results.
