Artist Statement

The maker uses a stoneware clay and surface decoration is a layering of glazes, oxides and local clay.

What inspires you to work with this craft?

The sculptural work has a strong coastline theme. In particular, the strand, what the waves leave behind once they recede back to the ocean. That scatter of stones, the rocks , the seaweed.The change of light and energy of the sea and the coastlines as the seasons change.The connections we have with the sea , our emotional responses and the internal dialogue created through these experiences.
