Spotlight on Maker: Helen Kenna Creations
I began experimenting with fluid painting during the pandemic and found a love for the free-flowing movement and creativity of abstract art.
I love hand building as it feels like I am a creator for the length of time my hands are in the clay.
I got frustrated with the speed you can move at so switched my work to clear resin and invented a technique to fire it in my kiln to get it extra clear and crisp.
I started to work in stained glass shortly after I left school in 1989 and have stayed with the medium in various forms through my career.
I work with clay and ceramics. I have always made things from objects and materials that I found, such as clay, sticks, flowers etc.
I am a jewellery designer, focussed mainly on earrings as they are my personal obsession.
The new lifestyle led me to pursue my interests and complete a photography course and several jewellery courses resulting in the ILgemstones jewellery brand. I started making jewellery in 2015. My favourite technique is hand-knotting
I studied textile design in NCAD and have a BDes in Textile Design. I have been creating for over 30 years.
