Process & Production

Jenny Dean Yeast vat recipe: 300g of fresh woad, steeped in 7 ltrs of boiling water for 1 hr. Cooled to 50C by end of hour. Added 2 tbs of sodium carbonate and mixture of 3 tbs of sugar, 2 tbs of yeast (allowed to froth whilst leaves steeped). First immersion/dip for 1 hour, successive dips 10-20mins x 3. Kept temperature at 50C and leaves in vat whilst dyeing.
