Anita Reynolds
I work with embroidery threads, applique, and batik on cotton and linens. I love vibrant colour and surface texture and I often quilt my pieces to create a relief surface. I also like to add embellishments in the form of found objects beads etc.
Q&A
Artist Statement
I have always loved trees from the texture of the bark to the wonderful ever-changing colours and patterns of leaves in groups on the branches and as individuals when they fall in the Autumn time. I work full-time as an artist surrounded by meadows, trees, bogs and canals. I love to show our natural world by focusing on small details that often go unnoticed like the beautiful pattern on an autumn leaf that will only exist for a short time. |
What craft do you work with?
It was a way to preserve its beauty and create something new at the same time. I frayed the edges of the sheer fabric to create a lightness to the edges of the swirling flame-like lines. |
What inspires you to work with this craft?
I’m inspired by my rural surroundings in Co. Meath. |
