Q&A

Artist Statement

I am a ceramic artist based in South- East London. After graduating from Camberwell College of Arts in 2019, I began designing and hand-crafting ceramics that reflect my love for the natural world.Living in a bustling city, I find solace in the organic forms and textures found in nature. My work is heavily inspired by the shapes and colors of flora and fauna, as well as the raw beauty of natural landscapes. By bringing these elements into my designs, I aim to create functional objects that can bring a touch of nature into the home.In my studio, I experiment with different techniques and materials, striving to create pieces that are not only beautiful, but also durable and practical. From rustic mugs and dinnerware to abstract décor and vases, each of my pieces is unique and imbued with a sense of handmade charm. My work has been featured in several local galleries and exhibitions, and I am constantly exploring new ways to evolve my craft. I believe that ceramics have the power to enhance our daily lives, and I am honored to be able to share my passion with others through my creations.

What craft do you work with?

I work with ceramics, which I first got into while studying at university. Since then, I’ve been working with ceramics for five years and have continued to hone my skills and explore new techniques.Out of all the techniques I’ve tried, I have to say that hand building is my favorite. I love the raw, organic effect that can be achieved through hand building, and the sense of connection to the piece that comes from forming it with my own hands. It’s a slow and deliberate process, but I find it incredibly rewarding.

How do you start your creative process?

I don’t tend to plan what I am going to make before I get into the studio and usually make it up as I go along. I find this usually produces the most interesting and organic outcomes and sometimes surprise myself with the results.
