Q&A

Artist Statement

We would sew all kinds of things.  This love of sewing and fabrics grew with me, and I spent my years in high school designing and making clothes for myself. I went to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago to study fashion design, but ended up in the Textiles department creating pieces of art with various textile techniques including fabric dying, screen printing, embroidery, weaving, and felting. After graduating, I continued with my textiles practice, making art, clothing, and items for the home.

What have you learnt or the best advice you have received that you would like to share with fellow crafters?

I am now teaching textile arts to primary school children, passing on my love of these craft practices. I continue to make works to express myself through my craft.
