Process & Production

During this residency I looked for a card loom because it is a technique that doesn’t require a lot of material and that allows to weave spontaneously. The idea came to me because the sofa company Egoitaliano collaborates with Made In Carcere for the realization of small objects sewn with their waste. This company allows to give work and creativity to women prisoners. So I thought this tool for these women, to be more creative with weaving and with the smallest textile waste.
The threads to assemble the loom are obtained by circular cutting of leftover fabrics. You are free to vary the materials used. The more cards there are, the wider the weaving will be. The different models of looms made with Plexiglas have been realized to be able to use different diameters of threads.
