Artist Statement

The Rombout Coffee Cup, made in highly translucent porcelain, is both elegant and strong. Named after Sint-Rombouts Cathedral, with its 97 meter high tower and its world famous carillon the most eye-catching Unesco World Heritage protected monument of the artist’s hometown. The Rombout Coffee Cup’s design is inspired by the pointed Gothic arches of the Sint-Rombouts Cathedral’s architecture, to be admired in windows and ribbed vaults

 

What craft do you work with? 

Ann makes unique ceramic pieces

What inspires you to work with this craft? 

Her love for geometry and her trips to different parts of the world, including Japan where she discovered the art of origami, gave her a style of her own. She developed a technique of folding thin sheets of clay.

Are there new techniques you would like to try?

Lately she started playing with computer drawn geometric patterns on a series of tableware and was awarded with the Grand Prize at the international Coffee Cup Competition, Yingge Museum Taiwan.
