Lilika Arnaki

The art of painting and printmaking is my passion, my own "emotional release valve". The human form plays a leading role in my work, which is elaborated in various ways to highlight not only the external physiognomic element but also the well-hidden inner world of each depicted person. Male and female faces, portraits, I work through various materials: burnt newspapers, cardboard, sand, sieves, sacks, pasta, even magazines. I also make sculptures, while I paint fabrics and clothes. I am open using different techniques or choosing a genre, but constantly looking for new ways to express my restless creativity. I try not to limit myself to the surface, but to capture factors of flowing life in my works. Correct proportions and depth, light and shadows are limited by space and time in a painting, trapped in the definition of beautiful or ugly. But what lies beyond the lines and shadows, above the apparently and subjectively beautiful, is the beauty of essence.
