Louise James

Louise set up Craftsea, a Paint Your Own Pottery Studio in Mumbles, Swansea having identified a lack of activities being offered to children and adults in the City. Craftsea is a small studio overlooking Swansea Bay offering underglaze painting onto bisque pottery. Louise's ethos and that of the studio is that no previous experience is required and that anyone can have a go at art, guidance is given to all painters who attend so that they can produce a piece of painted ceramic to be proud of.

Artist Statement

Redundancy in 2017 gave Louise the opportunity to set up a Paint Your Own Pottery business based in her garage and going out visiting locations around Swansea offering painting and baby print ceramic gifts. Craftsea located to a small studio space in Mumbles in 2019. Louise previously worked in the Environmental sector with her science background but believes that having no formal art training is relatable to many of her customers. No previous experience is required to have a go at painting pottery! Louise ensures that all customers are given guidance on how best to use the underglaze paints to get the best results so that they are empowered to oriduce a piece of painted cermic that they can be proud of. Louise glazes and fires all pottery items painted in the studio.
