Artist Statement
Honeyed Meadow encompasses the qualities of blown glass and what they can bring to an idea. She is constantly drawn to the magic of capturing the movement of molten glass in its solid form.
What craft do you work with?
Glass
What inspires you to work with this craft?
At the core of her work are stories of her culture which are told by using pattern, colour, form and the characteristics of glass. In this work she pays homage to traditional crafts such as needle work– using glass as the ‘new’ medium so this hand work can be viewed with a fresh perspective.
How do you start your creative process?
This piece speaks of a carefree time of tripping through a meadow as a child, unconscious of time and chasing the elusive. There is a wistfulness expressed in this work, in wanting to remember to make time to dawdle
How would you best describe your workspace and what tools could you not do without?
Blown glass butterfly net. Hand engraved with a diamond point, emulating a lace pattern. The glass handle is attached by a custom silver mount.
