Q&A
What craft do you work with?
textile printing / crochet sculptures / illustrations / paper cut
What inspires you to work with this craft?
What inspires me to work with this craft is the possibility to work with both the shape and surface. Composition. To look into new combinations and connections. Curiosity of combining new techniques for a extended design and craft vocabulary.
How do you start your creative process?
The creative process often starts with a hunch + research and then directly in the examination of the material, often as a back and forth between sketching in the fiber material and sketching on paper.
How would you best describe your workspace and what tools could you not do without?
My workspace is my safe space. There are big windows and a very nice light coming in. I could not do it without these tools: scissor, scalpel, crochet hook and fineliners
Are there new techniques you would like to try?
I would love to get to know about weaving.
What have you learnt that you would like to share with fellow crafters?
Advice for my fellow crafters: always save old sketches for new ideas. Also the ones that came out “wrong”. One day they can be the beginning of exactly the right project.
What other types of craft do you dream of collaborating with?
I have a future dream of collaborating with a cabinet maker, where we together create the shape of the furniture and the design of the upholstery fabric.
What professional dream do you have?
My professional dream is to run my own one-man business solving textile design tasks next to my job as a design teacher.
