This piece was created for an exhibition during London Craft Week 2020.

Process & Production

Handwoven on a computerised AVL floor loom this design was created using a 32 shaft repeat pattern. The singles wool had quite a high shrinkage rate which had to be factored in to the initial loom set up. The design was framed with locally sourced and ethically forested oak wood.

Warp: British wool singles in four shades of blue30 ends per inch1800 ends altogetherWeft: A mix of fibres including British wool singles, recycled cotton, handspun alpaca yarn and handspun local ryeland wool.Loom set up with a double cloth threading with a repeat of approximately 8cm x 30cm.
