Process & Production

Our societies and their continued development are completely dependent on our connectedness with the earth and its resources. Flax’s relationship with us and our relationship with flax has changed throughout history, from wild plant to cultivated resource. Inspired by the book Connectedness by Marianne Krogh which was key in the overall build of the project. I intend to partner with nature – understand the role we took as dominant species and how we can create a deeper understanding of the natural world around us. By weaving and winding the flax yarn/fiber on cards. The samples explore the beauty and the qualities that flax has. Representing the perspectives; biological, industrial, the human-made, a symbol of light.
