Red flash glass is a white basic glass with a thinner red glass layer; you can etch to the basic layer.
The external side gets covered with an etching foil to act as a resist (to protect the glass from the etching paste).
The internal side becomes textured using a cover paste applied by a tooth spatula.
The glass is laid in hydrofluoric acid for 5 minutes, than washed very well.
