Cristiana Grigore

My name is Cristiana Maria Grigore, and I am studying product design at Oslomet University in Norway. I was born in Romania, and I am 23 years old. I like working with a lot of different materials and discovering new methods of combining them. I am passionate about drawing and painting, sewing, and crafting.

Artist Statement

I like being creative, and I think it is interesting to work with different materials. I like that design helps people become more open minded and it pushes you to think outside of box. I like painting and drawing, sewing, crafting jewellery, and working with ceramics.

What craft do you work with?

I specialize in working with product design.

What inspires you to work with this craft?

I think is the curiosity I have for discovering new things and seeking things that are unique in their own way, rather than mass producing products.

How do you start your creative process?

By sketching and discussing with my team what we want to do. We put everything that comes to mind down on paper, we start sketching and experimenting with materials.

How would you best describe your workspace and what tools could you not do without?

My workspace is messy in the progress, the tools I use are pen and paper, markers, color pens, plasteline.

Are there new techniques you would like to try?

I would really like to try to explore textiles with metal, to try to combine them together.

What have you learnt or the best advice you have received that you would like to share with fellow crafters?

Trust the process and that is important to test products in order to decide whether the product works or not.
