Process & Production

Images show the progression from direct casting from a toy model to create a silicone mold with which to cast the green wax into. The wax was then invested in plaster and silica refractory material to make the molds. This wax was then steamed out and replaced with lead crystal glass chunks, then fired inside a kiln up to 780c.Once the kiln had finished it’s digitally controlled firing, the mold was broken open to reveal the cast crystal glass forms within. These were then cold-worked to remove any excess glass before being installed upon gravestones within the gallery space.
