Q&A

Artist Statement

I create functional and decorative pieces, design craft experiences to inspire the next generation of makers and art enthusiasts. My practice is rooted in heritage and traditions that fuel my interest in innovation and contemporary making. My craft practice is best described as one to inspire, to educate, to encourage exploration in different themes and issues through sustainable making, to grow confidence in people of all ages, and also to promote wellbeing and creativity.

What craft do you work with?

Inspired by the past it reminds us that we are responsible for the future. The inspiration  from my Hungarian heritage where gingerbread cookies are decorated with icing. Inspired by Irish forests and different lichen formations this piece reminds us how sensitive these organisms are to rising temperatures and as a result they may be impacted by climate change. Lichens have also been used to dye wool and other natural fibers in many cultures around the world. Inspired by the past it reminds us that we are responsible for the future.

What have you learnt or the best advice you have received that you would like to share with fellow crafters?

I design and deliver craft and visual arts projects in different settings where I collaborate with pre-school, primary and secondary teachers, students, adult and teacher education centres, youth workers, museum educators, community and library groups and also individuals of all age groups and abilities who visit my own studio. I enjoy working with beginners but also deliver craft masterclasses.
